PMEC was established in 2002 to strengthen families and work with organisations needing support for their development in the areas of parenting, education and childcare. We recognised the need to teach parenting skills, in response to the decline in family values and the increasingly isolated conditions many parents experience as a result of break-ups, divorce and lack of support from extended families. The challenges of being a parent in the 21st century are being increased further, as schools seem unable to equip students with the necessary skills to survive and thrive within a rapidly changing technological society. In response to these issues, we have set up a range of programmes to allow parents to teach and discipline their children in ways which will leave them wiser, stronger and more able to love themselves and others. PMEC have friendly, qualified and experienced professional consultants who are committed to delivering service at a high standard. They provide personailsed support and ensure that our clients keep abreast of developments in parenting and education. Founder Karlene Rickard BA, MA(Ed). Dip. (Counselling) Karlene Rickard has over twenty years of expertise as a parent facilitator, trainer and counsellor, working extensively in the UK, USA, Jamaica, Grenada and Trinidad. Karlene began her career as a science teacher and later went into community work and counselling. As a mother, she has experienced many of the challenges that parents face and she is passionate about helping others to raise their children successfully. As a result, she created the powerful ‘Empowerment for Parents’ programme which continues to change lives and transform relationships. In response to the growing problem of children failing in inner-city schools, she co-founded KJ Academy, a supplementary school in Leyton, London, where students get a chance to improve their grades. She also established a nursery/infant school in Jamaica where she was running a holistic parenting programme to develop the confidence and self-worth of participating families.
Karlene has written several books on nutrition and parenting,
