Empowerment for Parents PMEC provides a four days training course for those who would like to facilitate this programme. Continuing support and supervision are given once the programme is being delivered. Facilitators are expected to have a background in group work, facilitation, basic counselling and/or child development. Facilitation training We prepare facilitators to work with parent groups and empower them to become more effective in their parenting role, both in the home and working in partnership with their child’s school. The programme is culturally sensitive and encourages participants to celebrate and explore their cultural and racial heritage. Course structure The training is experiential. The facilitators are taken through the materials as if they were participants themselves. In addition, they are given experience in good facilitation skills, knowledge of how to work with parents and the importance particular policies. We recommend that facilitators do not work with groups of more than 16 participants. All facilitator training material for Strand A & B are supplied during the training, including manuals and DVDs. |
